In our inaugural post we began by calling attention to the declaration of legislative intent, which is a sort of purpose statement regarding "why" local governments are engaged in the “development of communities” across Virginia (hint: stewardship).
I once asked my dad what would compel an otherwise sane person to have kids in the 1970s...race riots, the oil crisis, a sputtering economy, and the rest. His reply, and I'm paraphrasing here, “the world has never been a perfect place. You just do the best you can with what you've been given.” Now, as a parent of children born in 2008 and 2011, I get the message. To me, the undercurrent of this sentiment is 'stewardship'.
For over 60 years PlanVirginia has been the guardian of, and advocate for, the education of local planning officials. Over the last decade we proudly stewarded along the many programs offered by Mike Chandler.
