Event Description

This event is composed of two training sessions (opening and closing sessions) and a self-study component lasting ten weeks. The self-study component includes required readings and homework assignments based on the assigned readings. The program is designed to provide each registrant with a complete understanding of the legal foundations of community planning in Virginia, and insight into current planning practices and approaches. The course also provides each participant with the technical and process expertise planning commissioners need to discharge their duties in a procedurally and substantively correct manner. This course is especially valuable for newly appointed planning commissioners, although veteran commissioners will also find the course to be of value.
